Partnering with HMCEC
Our Work Is Stronger Together
The Hickman Mills Community Empowerment Center cannot accomplish the work of empowerment and sustainability alone. Everything we have achieved has been made possible through the generosity, commitment, and shared vision of our partners. Together, we have distributed thousands of resources, provided emotional and spiritual encouragement, and created pathways to job training and opportunity for residents of South Kansas City.
HMCEC exists at the intersection of compassion and collaboration. Our partnerships span churches, nonprofits, businesses, schools, law enforcement, and government agencies—all united by a desire to serve the community with dignity and purpose. These relationships allow us to meet immediate needs while also building long-term solutions that promote stability, growth, and self-sufficiency.

We believe effective partnerships are rooted in shared values. At HMCEC, we invite our partners to commit to what we call the “4 C’s,” principles that guide how we work together:
Don’t Compete
Don’t Compare
Don’t Complain
Don’t Care Who Gets the Credit
These values keep the focus where it belongs—on the community. When organizations come together without competition or ego, real transformation becomes possible. Success is measured not by recognition, but by lives impacted.

As our work continues to grow, so does our need for partners willing to invest time, talent, resources, and heart. Whether through donations, volunteer service, professional expertise, or collaborative programming, there is a place for you in this work.
If you are interested in joining the mission of HMCEC and becoming part of a community-centered effort to bring empowerment and sustainability to South Kansas City, we invite you to contact us to schedule a conversation. Together, we can build something greater than any of us could accomplish alone.
